Minister of Care
Would you like to share your love of the Eucharist with those who are ill, homebound or in a nursing home? Are you willing to share your prayers and faith with the sick? Do you consider yourself a good listener?
If so, you are a good candidate to join those men and women who belong to the Ministers of Care. Teams of two make weekly visits to parishioners who are homebound. Other members visit area nursing homes certain Sundays or weekdays.
Training is available if you have doubts. Ministers of Care agree that this may seem overwhelming at first. However, the rewards outweigh any uncertainties one may have. When you experience the appreciation of those you visit, and see the love they have for the Eucharist, your enthusiasm and conviction to serve is renewed.
Minister of Care Statement
As Ministers of Care for St. Stephen Protomartyr Parish, we are called and sent to be living witnesses in our faith and worship community. We minister to our sick and elderly parishioners with dignity and respect. We bring comfort of personal presence and care by:
• Praying with them
• Bringing the Holy Eucharist to them
• Giving words of consolation and a sense of belonging
Prayer of Sending for Ministers of Care
“Sisters and Brothers, as you go to the sick and the homebound,
take with you not only the sacrament we have celebrated,
but also the Word of God which we have heard, as well as
the affection of this parish community.
Ask for the prayers of those whom you visit in return.
Go, now, with God’s peace and blessing.”
