Mary, Mother of Martyrs Parish

Parish Life

Our K of C council 16873 meets on the third Tuesday of the month in the St. Isidore Room. The officers meeting begins at 7:00 PM, and our business meeting starts at 7:30.

Jesus invites us to His banquet table to nourish our souls. The Culinaires strive to nourish our bodies and create a sense of parish community, while raising funds for our parish. The Culinaires are a group of parishioners who gather to raise funds for our parish. We host fund raising dinners about 4 times a year and have a Holiday Bake Sale in December. All are welcome to join us. For more information contact Kay Kramer 847-824- 4661 or Barbara Stancato 847-269-0185.

We are a group of ladies from St. the Parish who have been meeting every week for 20 years to create useful items from fabrics and yarns. These are donated to various charities. The items we have made include Baptismal garments, prayer shawls, adult and baby hats, hat & scarf sets, baby blankets, mittens, and tote bags. These have been donated to Des Plaines Pantry, Lemons of Love, Library Mitten Tree, Loyola and Elmhurst Hospital Cancer Centers, The Women's Center, Sisters of the Poor, Misericordia, Rush Neonatal, Rainbow Hospice. We welcome new members. If you are interested, phone Avila (847-296-1206) or Betty (847-824-9693). Donations of yarn are always appreciated.

Golden Hearts is the name of our Senior group. They meet on the first and third Friday of each month and do various activities together. Our main purpose is to have fun and learn more about each other. If you are interested in participating, please feel free to come to one of our meetings and introduce yourself.

The purpose of the PYM is threefold, to empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today, to draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community, and to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person. Contact Sister Revelina for more info.

Each year a group of interested parishioners come together to plan and prepare the celebration of St Joseph Day on March 19th.

Usually the Parish Council plans and directs the annual parish picnic held during the summer.

It is a community of Filipino and American families living within and outside the parish who participate in the different activities that the Parish together with those our leaders organize.
